Graeme Souness thinks that Paul Pogba would make a poor main midfielder if Manchester United want to see improvement in the middle. United is currently prepping up for their first match with another top-six club, Arsenal, since thrashing Chelsea on the opening day of the season, and it looks like the Frenchman won't be making an appearance due to a swollen ankle.

If Pogba does recover in time to perform at Old Trafford, Souness believes that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must think twice about his midfield lineup. In his Sunday Times column, the former football player wrote: "Pogba's first thought is to show everybody how clever and cute he can be."

Souness titled his recent piece "Until Man United fix their midfield, the vast sums spent on the likes of Harry Maguire will be money down the drain."

Elsewhere, it's being reported that Pogba is demanding Man Utd a raise of €600,000-a-week for him to stay at the club.

The midfielder has publicly addressed his desire to leave United in the summer transfer window, saying he's seeking for a new challenge. However, no deal emerged for the Frenchman in spite of the fact that reports of him wanting out had been all over the news.

Pogba began the season brilliantly with a superb display in the 4-0 win over Chelsea in the opening weekend but injuries and a loss of form have got Pogba thinking about a move away again, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian news outlet claims that Pogba knows Real Madrid and Juventus are still interested in him, so he is asking his current club to increase his wages if they want him to stay.

The midfielder still has two more years before his current contract with Man Utd expires, but it is believed that the club may issue an extension of an additional year.

Pogba's ridiculous request, if granted, would make him the highest-paid Premier League player by some distance. But it is clear this is all a ploy for United to make him available for the January transfer window.
