Manchester United and Chelsea are set to meet, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking forward to doing the double over Frank Lampard. Their next match will be the Carabao Cup's fourth round.
Both managers have previously met this season. Solskjaer led United to victory in a 4-0 win at Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils seem to have fallen off of their best form, and now the Blues are looking like the more convincing club on the pitch. With the Chelsea having dispatched third round opponents Grimsby Town 7-1, as opposed to Man Utd's qualification through penalties (5-3) after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
It's obvious that both Solskjaer and Lampard are looking forward to meeting again. As for the Norwegian, he's bent on beating Lampard and please Man Utd fans at the Stamford Bridge.
"If you want to win it then you have to beat the best," the United gaffer told MUTV. "That's how it is and we've got to make the best out of it. I'm sure we are because that's the type of group this is, that's the type of club we are."
Meanwhile, the English manager is expecting a "strong" performance from Manchester United. Chelsea will host the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in October.
"We have to respect them, it's going to be a tough game," Lampard said. "You have to give Rochdale credit for taking them all the way."
The draw took place after United sacked Rochdale on penalties in the third round of the Carabao Cup Wednesday night, following a 1-1 draw against The Dale. The only goal Man Utd managed to bag was of Mason Greenwood, while the visitors had 16-year-old Luke Matheson score for them.
Despite United advancing to the fourth round, however, fans were still (and are still) unhappy seeing how the game turned out. The club's loyal and quite aggressive fan base thinks that a 1-1 regulation time draw against a League One side is simply unacceptable.
As expected, fans took to social media to express their frustration, with some calling for Solskjaer to step down. Elsewhere, Manchester City is preparing the Etihad Stadium for Southampton, while Liverpool is set to battle Arsenal. All fourth-round ties will take place in the week commencing Monday 28 October.
