Following Manchester United's tepid start to the new season, the club has decided to make moves for Ousmane Dembele and Mario Mandzukic in the January transfer window.

It appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally realized the club needs to strengthen his attacking line in the upcoming window transfer window, according to The Independent. It is understood that the Norwegian manager has already discussed he plans with Ed Woodward, the club's vice chairman.

Solskjaer in the summer spent almost £150 million on transfers. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, and Daniel James have begun their careers in Old Trafford quite promisingly, but the club still fell in the eighth spot after their loss against West Ham Sunday. It's worth noting that United haven't won away from home since February.

Earlier this month, Solskjaer let go of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, and took in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, whose arrivals are yet to be justified.

While Martial managed to win two goals for United in the opening two matches, he has not been spotted on the pitch after obtaining an injury to the groin in the club's face off against Crystal Palace. It is believed that he will remain absent in Monday's game versus Arsenal. Meanwhile, Rashford this season scored three times, with two of those coming from the penalty spot. Unfortunately, he was also insured last weekend at the London Stadium.

Perhaps this was the deciding point for the 46-year-old gaffer, who immediately met with Woodward after Sunday's defeat to discuss the club's options for their attacking line.

It was reported in the summer that United had already considered signing Mandzukic from Juventus, but didn't pursue the target man due to his age. The Croatian, who is now 33, is yet to feature under Maurizio Sarri this season, but United is reportedly keen on signing him as a short-term option.

Dembele, whom Borussia Dortmund sold for £96 million arrived at Barcelona in 2017. However, the 22-year-old didn't make it to Ernesto Valverde's regular starting spot. He failed to justify his huge transfer fee partly due to several disciplinary breaches.

Dembele this season only appeared once for Blaugrana, but it's believed that the club will maintain his fee, potentially close to £100 million.
