Being one of the highly anticipated games in the gaming world today, it is not surprising to see leaks, rumors, and speculations about "GTA 6." The rumor mill started a few years back, and one of the leaks claimed about the game's development commencing in 2018. No one barely took the leak seriously, but recently, a new leak surfaced claiming about the same development date and more.

In December 2018, an anonymous third-party game developer from Europe stated that "GTA 6" will be released on Sony's next-generation console, the PlayStation 5 in the holiday season of 2020. The same leak claimed that the Japanese console maker had made a deal with Rockstar Games to keep "GTA 6" exclusive to PlayStation 5 for one month. The leaker also shared that the game will be set in either New York or Miami.

There was obviously no way that we can confirm the veracity of the claim about "GTA 6" back then. Interestingly, the same leak shared several details about the PlayStation 5, the majority of which were already confirmed by Sony earlier this year, giving some credibility to the leak. The leaker shared back then the hardware specifications of PlayStation 5 along with ray tracing technology and physical mediums.

Additionally, the PlayStation 5 allegedly will have backwards compatibility; it will focus on 4K and 8K resolutions and also in PlayStation VR. All these details were officially confirmed by Sony on some level in the months succeeding the leak. Interestingly, the leaker's claim about the DualShock 5 controller with a built-in camera, was spotted in patent filing almost five months after.

There are so many solid indications that suggest that the details claimed by the anonymous third-party developer could be true. But, that's not all there is. Last week, another "GTA 6" leak surfaced online claiming that the game will be set in Vice City. This is the fictional setting of "GTA 2" which was based in Miami.

As for the one-month exclusive launch of "GTA 6" on PlayStation 5, so far, we do not have enough information that could support this claim. Rockstar Games recently launched its Rockstar Launcher and releasing the most-awaited game exclusively on PS5 might affect the sales of the sixth iteration to the popular "Grand Theft Auto" series. Many things could still happen and more leaks and claims will surely surface between now and on the game's announcement.

While the claims of the old leak seem to be true, there is still no way that we can guarantee that it is 100 percent officially accurate. But, we suggest that you take the details about "GTA 6" with a grain of salt and with great skepticism.
