Tottenham Hotspurs is taking another tough turn as goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been adviced to stay out of the field until next year because of a dislocated elbow. The 32 years old Spurs' captain suffered the injury when Tottenham was defeated by Brighton & Hove Albion in a 3-0 match in the Premier League last Saturday. The team confirmed that the French goalkeeper will not need any surgery but disclosed that the team captain has ligament damage and is not expected to come back to training before this year ends.

Hugo Lloris will miss crucial fixtures in England's top flight, which includes a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on October 27 as well as a game against Chelsea and Manchester United I December 2019. With Lloris out of the equation, it appears that Tottenham's chances of getting to the top four in the Premier League are in jeopardy. This also applies to the club's progress in the UEFA Champions League.

According to the official website of Tottenham Hotspurs, Hugo Lloris is at present in a brace and will undergo rest and rehabilitation, which will be handled by the club's medical staff at Hotspur Way. Didier Deschamps, France coach, stated that the Hugo Lloris' injury is a blow for the team although it offers an opportunity for others to step up in Euro 2020. Lloris aside from being the captain of Tottenham Hotspurs is also the captain of Team France and has helped the team win the World Cup.

Deschamps said that Hugo Lloris' absence is hard to quantify since he plays a crucial role in the team. His absence encompasses everything and a massive loss for the entire team despite that this is the very first injury Lloris suffered in his entire career, the French coach said. He also assured fans that other players will surely step up to ensure that Team France will continue to perform.

Hugo Lloris suffered the injury following the awkward landing on his left arm while fumbling Pascal Gross' cross into the way of Neal Murphy who bumped Brighton in front from a close range. Meanwhile, Tottenham recently suffered from a couple of devastating defeats in less than a week. Lloris and company win just one in five games in all competitions.

 

Hugo Lloris' decline as one of the most reliable players in the roster of Mauricio Pochettino according to Goal reflects the deeper issues within Tottenham. The report claims that the Spurs appears like a team that has gone stale while their head coach has been evading allegations about his future with the team. Pochettino might have a hard time getting the team back on track even if Paulo Gazzaniga will replace Hugo Lloris.
