Football legend Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't understand why Manchester United did not sign Aston Villa star John McGinn, according to Bobby Jenks.
Jenks, a former Aston Villa talent scout spotted McGinn playing football in Scotland and has been playing with the Lions since. During the summer, it was reported that Ferguson tried to get United to sign the midfielder, but the deal failed to materialize, with Villa demanding £50 million for the Scotsman.
Jenks insists that Ferguson is a huge admirer of McGinn and will attempt to persuade United again to sign the 24-year-old. He admitted that it didn't take him long to see McGinn's potential during his spells with Hibernian and St. Mirren.
The 24-year-old is now putting in some outstanding for the Villans on a regular basis, and Jenks believes that interest in the midfielder is bound to be shown. "He's up there with the best-performing midfielders in the division," Jenks said in an interview.
The talent scout claims that Ferguson is keeping a close eye on McGinn and will be "telling his pals at United" about the star's potential. "What I do know is that Sir Alex Ferguson is wondering why Manchester United let a talented Scottish boy slip through."
