After countless rumors, leaks, and speculations, Sony finally announced the release window of PlayStation 5. The announcement seemed to confirm some of the speculations that many fans already know. Remember the leaked dev kit that reveals the alleged new design of the PS5? Well, the insider recently confirmed that it is accurate.
The recent confirmation from the insider on the alleged new design of PlayStation 5 triggers fans to make renders, and the latest is a brief video. The short audiovisual presentation shows the PS5 from all angles and highlights its beautiful design. Just to be clear, this video is not officially from Sony, and this is in no way a confirmation of what the next generation gaming console from the Japanese console maker will look like when it officially releases.
Instead, the PlayStation 5 design shown in the video is suggestive of the dev kit that Sony allegedly circulated to game developers in summer to help them start preparing their content for the next generation gaming console at the earliest possible time. Meanwhile, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that the PS5 will arrive between November and December 2020. He also confirmed that the upcoming gaming hardware will be officially called PlayStation 5 (PS5).
In April, Sony's Lead Architect Mark Cerny shared with Wired that the PlayStation 5 will be equipped with a custom-made AMD Navi processor. We also learned from the interview that Sony's next-generation gaming console will support 8K Ultra HD visuals. More importantly, Sony revealed that the device will have a power-saving feature that will conserve a massive amount of collective energy when it is on standby mode.
Aside from these, we know that the PlayStation 5 will support ray tracing with gaming titles arriving bundled on its 100 GB optical discs that can be separately installed on modules through the 4K Blu-ray player of the device. Sony CEO also shared that the PlayStation 5 will have a revamped controller with haptic feedback. This latest PS5 controller will have next-generation adaptive triggers or mini toggles on top of the controller that provides resistance.
Rumors also claim that PS5 will be released alongside PS5 Pro and PlayStation VR. Several major titles are also anticipated to be available on PlayStation 5 at launch. Among these are "Ghost of Tsushima," "The Last of US 2," and "Horizon Zero Dawn 2." Other games anticipated to release on PlayStation 5 include "Death Stranding," "GTA 6," "Assassin's Creed 2020," and "God of War 2."
