The next-generation Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 could probably be the most ambitious foldable phone to arrive in the market if the recent rumor is true. Either that or it will go down in history as the biggest disappointment for the Seoul-based tech and electronics giant. The latest rumor reveals how brace and experimental Samsung is as a company.

The latest claim comes from The Elec, a Korean tech site, which claims that Samsung seems to be investing some of the most experimental and most innovative features in the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, features that the mobile industry has not seen yet. According to the report, the next-generation foldable phone from Samsung will be the first-ever device to have a camera hidden under an unbroken and hole-free display.

The Seoul-based tech giant is calling the technology UDC, which is the acronym for Under Display Camera. The logic is that the whole will be totally invisible, while the screen of the device is in use. The Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10 have under-display cameras too, but they have punch hole cut out.

The report revealed that the machine used for developing this kind of display is called the Hole in Active Area (HiAA). The South Korean tech giant has already one that was previously used to manufacture screens for 2019's flagship devices. Reportedly, the company has just received the HiAA2 machine that will manufacture these under-display screens, which will launch on Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 in 2020.

Instead of the usual OLED display, Samsung is taking it a notch higher with the UDC lying under a flexible display that may have an impact on the performance of its cameras. The company will have to address the possible light bending and distortions that bendable screens may have on the image sensor. Given the revolutionary screen, as well as the software solutions, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will not come cheap.

The site also reveals that the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will have more expensive components compared to the Samsung Galaxy Fold aside from the glass-like protective material. Earlier, we also heard several claims that the next-generation foldable device from Samsung will have a different form factor compared to its predecessor. The upcoming device reportedly will have a new way of folding-clamlike.

It is worth noting that these are just speculations and claims about Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. These are not official information from Samsung. In this case, we suggest that you take this with a pinch of salt.
