Samsung was the first smartphone maker to announce a foldable smartphone. However, the official release was met by several delays because of multiple issues. According to earlier reports, the Seoul-based tech giant limited the production of Samsung Galaxy Fold to measure the market response. Apparently, it is doing well in the market considering that a new report is claiming that Samsung is planning to release over 6 million units of its foldable phone.

The news about the ramped up production of Samsung Galaxy Fold comes from a South Korean news outlet ET. The site claims that Samsung might increase its shipment of the Galaxy Fold by tenfold. Samsung is anticipated to sell 500,000 units of its foldable phone, which is considerably good given the $2000 retail price of each unit.

Surprisingly, Samsung Galaxy Fold has proven that it is good considering that it is sold out in some markets. It could also mean that perhaps the market is ready for this kind of form factor. This could also be the reason behind Samsung's ambitious campaign of shipping six million units of Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Reportedly, the Seoul-based tech giant is currently taking considerable measures in improving the display and checking as well if the display division could accommodate that amount of foldable display production. According to the report, Samsung initially planned to have 10 million shipments but eventually, it might have realized that the goal was unrealistic. Market estimates suggest that Samsung Galaxy Fold will sell 5 million units next year, and it appears that the company wants to explore this particular market more.

Several reports are also claiming that Samsung is also planning to release a foldable smartphone inspired by Moto RAZR. It was reportedly hidden under the code name bloom and will be a more durable version of the foldable smartphone. But, Samsung will not be the sole maker of foldable phones next year.

Huawei Mate X will definitely explore other markets, and Moto RAZR is also expected to arrive in 2020. Leaks pointing to the launch and official release of Samsung's next-generation foldable phone claim that the Seoul-based tech and electronics giant might have a hard time selling its second foldable smartphone. 6 million units of Samsung Galaxy Fold is very ambitious, but goals are meant to be set at a high level so the company could achieve more.

Many find Samsung's 6 million units' shipment an unrealistic goal. But, only time will tell if the company can achieve this next year.
