It has already been confirmed that there will be a fourth John Wick movie starring Keanu Reeves. But will the former assassin's story finally come to an end in John Wick: Chapter 4? There are speculations that Reeves has only agreed to return for one more film in an effort to give his character's story a proper conclusion. This is probably because the Always Be My Maybe star is already preparing for the highly anticipated The Matrix 4.
Back in May, it was confirmed that John Wick 4 is happening and that Keanu Reeves will be back for yet another major battle. After all, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum concluded with John and the Bowery King surviving the attempts on their lives and ultimately agreeing to work together to take down the High Table. With that in mind, the upcoming fight is possibly going to be the biggest one for the character who has already gone through so much in the past three films. But will it mean that John will end up dead in Chapter 4?
Director Chad Stahelski had previously spoke to Indiewire indicating that things won't end well for the character once the film franchise finally comes to a close. Stahelski pointed out that "there's no happy ending" since John's "got nowhere to go." He then posed a challenge asking how things could realistically end for John after everything he's done throughout the three previous movies.
"If you're this f--king guy, if this guy really exist[ed], how is this guy's day going to end?" Stahelski asked. "He's f--ked for the rest of his life. It's just a matter of time."
It's a depressing thought considering that fans are still rooting for John Wick. On the other hand, Chad Stahelski does have a point and things do need to come to an end for the character. But is it possible that John Wick 4 will be the final movie for Keanu Reeves' character?
There have been speculations that Keanu Reeves is eager to move on and work on new projects. At the moment, he has already signed on to the fourth Matrix film, which will also bring back Carrie-Anne Moss and introduce a new character played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen. Considering that the sequel could lead to more Matrix movies, some believe that Reeves is keeping his options open for the future. Unfortunately, this could mean that he might finally retire as John Wick.
Matrix 4 is expected to begin production in Chicago in February 2020. John Wick: Chapter 4 is already scheduled for release on May 21, 2021.
