Unai Emery assumed the post of Arsene Wenger at the start of the last season. One of the biggest mistakes of the Spanish coach was attempting to change things too abruptly at Arsenal, says Matthew Upson. The former English footballer reckons that Emery might have lost the dressing room considering the poor performance of the Gunners in recent weeks.

Arsenal failed to qualify in the Champions League and that alone sends the Gunners' fans in frenzy calling the Arsenal top management to sack Unai Emery. In January, the Spanish coach spent a huge amount of cash to sign Nicolas Pepe for a whopping deal of £74million. However, Pepe has yet to significantly contribute to the team and has by far, shown very little improvement.

The Gunners is currently struggling in sixth place trailing 17 points behind the league leader Liverpool. Arsenal players may have long lost their faith to the Spanish coach, Upson claims in BBC Radio 5 Live. Maybe there is already a loss of belief in the manager, former English footballer adds.

Unai Emery came to Arsenal and tried to change things and attempted to be more disciplined, Upson explains. You have to look at the recruitment but Arsenal spent much on an attacking wide player with several other issues that require to be addressed, Upson continues. Arsenal might have a decent first season but at the end of the season you will see that the team has not made any progress, Upson notes.

Earlier this month, there have been rumors that Arsenal was already looking for Unai Emery's replacement. There were even reports that Arsenal's head of football went to dine with former Manchester United and Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho to talk about the future of the club. But the Emirates' top management denied this and said that the club still believes in Emery's leadership.

Despite Arsenal's claim, Daily Mirror recently reports that the under-pressure Arsenal coach is given only a month to save his job at Arsenal. The Gunners has not won a single match in the Premier League since Oct. 6 and Daily Mirror reveals that Emery's fate will be judged based on the results of the league games scheduled against Southampton, Norwich, Brighton, West Ham, and Manchester United. A source within the club reportedly told Daily Mirror that the DNA that distinguished Arsenal has dramatically drained away with members of the club surprised by what is happening to the Gunners.
