World Health Organization Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus in his most recent speech said the threat of COVID-19 rising to become epidemic is very real. If this happens, however, COVID-19 will be the first pandemic in history that could be controlled, he added.

WHO designed four categories where countries should be included. The first category is the countries with no cases, (second) with sporadic cases, (third) with cases in clusters, and (fourth) with community transmission. Even with different levels of categories,  WHO said the goal is the same and that is to stop transmission and prevent the spread of the virus.

Local health officials are closely monitoring situations in small clusters such as workplaces and places of gathering. This was after the recent infections involved about 40 call center workers. The Philippines reported a sudden surge in the number of cases in the past five days, from 3 to 35. The health department said the spike in number is due to a renewed way of monitoring people who are suspected carriers of the virus.

VIETNAM

The country's spike in infections - from 16 to 32 - is linked to British citizens who traveled from London to Hanoi. The incident prompted the Vietnamese government to suspend visas on arrival for British citizens, as well as citizens of Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.
