Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi shocked the world when they privately tied the knot in Windsor. For months, royal fans and watchers have waited for the Palace's official announcements regarding the new date of their wedding.

Following the cancellation in May due to the COVID-19 crisis, several speculations emerged that the event would likely take place in 2021. Accordingly, it came as a shock to everyone when the announcement revealed that a private event already took place on July 17, at the Royal Chapel of All Saints, Royal Lodge, according to BBC.

The publication said that Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's wedding ceremony took place at exactly 11 in the morning, BST. Based on the Palace's official statement, the event followed all protocols in terms of the social distancing guidelines amid the continued fight against the coronavirus.

Reports, then, added that the event happened hours before Queen Elizabeth II knighted Captain Sir Tom Moore on the grounds of Windsor Castle. As stated, the British Monarch even shared during the investiture that her granddaughter's wedding was "nice."

The eldest York Princess, reportedly, wore the same tiara that her grandmother wore during her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947. Her non-traditional wedding gown also belongs to the Queen.

As revealed, she first wore it when she attended the premiere of Lawrence of Arabia in 1962. Five years later, she also donned the same dress for the State Opening of Parliament, as per Insider.

Her wedding ring is also out of the royal tradition. Reports said that Edo chose a "vintage gold band." Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice preferred to have a "platinum and diamond ring" instead of the royal brides' usual, a Welsh gold band.

The York family and other members of the British Royal Family attended the secret wedding. However, the official photographs only saw Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Despite this, sources said that Prince Andrew walked his daughter down the aisle. They, reportedly, quarantined together to be able to do this amid the lockdown measures.

As for the Princess' mother, Sarah, Duchess of York, she reportedly read two "love poems" during the ceremony. As reported, these poems, William Shakespeare's Sonnet 116 and E.E. Cummings' I carry you in my heart, are Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's favorites.

Town and Country then added that the theme of the wedding was a "secret garden." Although reports did not provide specifications and details, the flower arrangement on the official photos reportedly captured the said theme.
