Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed Meghan Markle with open arms and even "rolled out the red carpet" for Prince Harry's wife. A friend of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are speaking out amid claims in the upcoming book, Finding Freedom, that the Cambridges did not attempt to make friends with the Duchess of Sussex.
The source, apparently, spoke with Daily Mail and said that Finding Freedom got it completely wrong. The friend said Kate Middleton and Prince William hosted a get-together for Meghan in their home in Anmer Hall. They went out of their way to serve her favorite vegan dish.
The friend also said that Prince William and Kate had Meghan for Christmas, as well as invited Meghan to several outings. Kate and Meghan were at Wimbledon two times together.
Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in their book that Prince Willam and Kate's treatment towards Meghan were repeatedly tested. The authors' sources claimed that Prince William's snobbish comments about Meghan hurt Prince Harry, who has always been extremely protective of his wife.
Meghan, reportedly, told her friends that she gave up everything for Prince Harry's family. She was hoping to have a special relationship with Kate because of their unique roles as outsiders who became royals.
However, Kate, apparently, felt that she had nothing in common with Prince Harry's wife. This disappointed Meghan, who acknowledged that she and her sister-in-law will not be close like best friends but the book reiterated that the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex are not at war.
Kate also didn't make much effort to smooth things over with Prince William and Prince Harry. The Duchess of Cambridge felt it was not her responsibility to fix their rift and she was always loyal to her husband and his family.
Finding Freedom will be released in August but excerpts of the book were released over the weekend as part of its marketing. Prince Harry and Meghan's people released a statement to reiterate that they have nothing to do with the book and were not interviewed by the authors.
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton's friend further claimed that Prince William is having a hard time as this rift between the brothers sparked anew because of the book release. The Duke of Cambridge is, reportedly, "sad and disappointed" that this feud is all over the news again.
