Prince Harry reportedly lost respect for some parts of the royal family institution amid a growing conflict with some of its courtiers. But he still feels his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, is one of the most important women in his life, according to a new book.

A source for the upcoming biography Finding Freedom revealed what Prince Harry really felt about some senior royal staff members. He reportedly believes that "men in grey suits" inside the palace wanted to "rein in" the popularity of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan reportedly had a lot of potential to outshine other members of the royal family but palace staff members deliberately overlooked the couple while giving priority to Prince Charles or Prince William and Kate Middleton.

This apparently made Prince Harry dissatisfied about his role in the royal family. He also felt that some of the royal staff didn't like his wife, Meghan Markle. Meghan, on the other hand, felt disappointed that she could not form a close friendship with Kate.

But the Duke of Sussex was able to air his and Meghan's sentiments to Queen Elizabeth. Her majesty invited her grandson to a relaxed lunch at Sandringham during his last trip to London in March to hash out his grievances.

The grandmother and grandson had a heart-to-heart talk about Prince Harry's issues, where Queen Elizabeth reiterated that he is still a much-loved member of the royal family. She also assured him that he and Meghan could return to their royal duties if they decide, after a period of one year, that they still want to continue working for The Firm.

Finding Freedom explores the details of Prince Harry and Meghan's much controversial royal exit from the side of the Sussexes. Written by royal correspondents Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the book reportedly cites over 200 sources who work within the palace, including the former staff of Prince Harry and Meghan.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes said that Prince Harry and Meghan didn't speak with Scobie and Durand personally as excerpts of Finding Freedom came out in The Times over the weekend. The royal couple have distanced themselves from the book's release following reports that it could cause fireworks in the royal family.

One insider said that Queen Elizabeth will likely be "hurt the most" by the book's revelations because it will open old wounds. It comes as Prince Harry and Prince William have been repairing their relationship during this public health lockdown. The brothers have reportedly been talking since Prince Charles' coronavirus diagnosis in late March.
