A new report reveals that the search engine giant Google is currently working on a new smartphone with a massive display. The report surfaced following Google's recent announcement of the Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, and Pixel 4a 5G devices. Rumors have it that the company could be working on a device with the same display size as its Nexus smartphone.

New Google 6.67-inch Smartphone

The latest information about a potential new smartphone from Google is courtesy of DSSC Analyst Ross Young. On his official Twitter account, Young revealed that the search engine giant might release a smartphone with a massive display of 6.67-inch. BOE and Samsung would reportedly manufacture the said display.

Unfortunately, Young did not say if the display would be OLED or OLED. Whispers online believed that the rumored Google smartphone with a 6.67-inch display would feature an OLED screen. Recently, Samsung and BOE increased their OLED panels production, which could mean some of these displays would be for Google's rumored smartphone.

Release Window

As for the release window of the rumored Google smartphone, it appears that it might not happen this year. The company is anticipated to release the Google Pixel 5 this year, and it features a 5.78-inch display. The company would not want to introduce two smartphones with large display sizes in a year. It is highly likely that the alleged Google 6.67-inch smartphone might arrive in 2021.

The last time Google introduced a smartphone with a similar display size was in 2014 through Nexus 6. The device sports a 5.96-inch display, and some tech analysts are speculating that the company is simply matching its rivals' screen size. If the rumored Google 6.67-inch smartphone arrives in 2021, it could house the custom silicon that Google allegedly worked with Samsung.

If it is not going to have this SoC, the next possible chip would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875G. This particular model of chipset comes with 5G support. Young confirmed in his recent tweet that the Google 6.67-inch smartphone would feature 5G connectivity and 120 Hz display refresh rate.

It is worth mentioning that while this information is exciting, it is not official. Google is currently preparing to release the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G sometime in the fall of this year.
