Apple is planning to reduce the 2021 budget iPad's thickness, though in many aspects it will still look much like the previous version.

The 2021 iPad may look much like its 2020 version, though might become much thinner. This is because Apple is seriously considering reducing the thickness 2021 budget iPad, although in most cases, it will still look like the 2020 version.

The size of low-priced versions of the iPad, more particularly the 2020 version, is around 9.8 inches in length, 6.8 inches in width, and less than a third of an inch. It has a screen resolution of 2160 1620 and has an A10 Fusion processor chip. It has a storage base of 32GB but you can also opt for the 128GB variants. The non-cellular version weighs 483 grams while the Wi-Fi and cellular variant are a bit heavier at 493 grams. Apple did not confirm whether they will also improve these features but what is clear at this point is that the Cupertino tech giant is planning to reduce its thickness, which can also result in the new 2021 budget iPad becoming much lighter. As regards the overall look, however, unconfirmed reports say that it would still appear similar to the 2020 version.

The same unconfirmed report said that there might be no changes as regards the length and size of the 9th generation 2021 budget iPad. Its screen might perhaps also have the same dimensions as that of the 2020 version. Some industry observers also say that apart from reducing the thickness of the 2021 iPad, Apple might also upgrade its processing chip, though this remains speculative at this point.

According to a revelation by the Mac Treasure Tracing Club, an Apple Chinese supply chain source told them that the 2021 budget iPad will likely imitate the iPad Air 3rd generation. "The next iPad (9th Generation) is likely to be based on the iPad Air (3rd Generation)," the source told the Mac Treasure Tracing Club. The source also revealed that Apple intends to reduce the thickness of the housing from 0.29 inches to 0.25 inches. While the reduction might appear minor, it will make the 2021 budget iPad considerably thinner. The source also revealed that the reduction would drop the weight of the budget iPad from 490 grams to 460 grams.

Mac Treasure Tracing Club's Apple Chinese supply chain source also said that while Apple plans to reduce the thickness of its 2021 budget iPad, its screen size will remain at 10.2 inches. Unlike the recent iPad Pro and iPad Air models, the new iPad will also continue to have a Touch ID, a Home button, and a Lightning port. Apple launched the 2020 version of the budget iPad in September alongside other products like the iPad Air. The cost of the 8th generation iPad starts at $329, but there is no word yet as to how much is the estimated price of the new iPad.
