A new battle royale title based on the hit game "PUBG" is confirmed to arrive this year, with another "PUBG" related PC and console game launching in 2022.

The confirmation came from Krafton CEO Kim Chang-Han in a recent interview with Bloomberg. Krafton is the company that manages several development studios, which includes PUBG Studio and Striking Distance. The executive revealed in the interview that there are plans to release a couple of "PUBG" games this year and next year.

For 2021, the team intends to launch a new battle royale game set within the "PUBG" universe. In 2022, the industry will see the release of another PC/console game related to "PUBG." Last year, a South Korean media outlet revealed that Krafton was developing a new game set in the PUBG universe allegedly called "Project XTRM." The site further revealed that its sources claimed that the project has been in the works since the early part of 2019.

Aside from the new games, the executive also revealed to Bloomberg that the team has plans for an animated series based on the hit game. It also disclosed its plans to invade the movies and the television. Recently, PUBG creative director Dave Curd revealed to Polygon that this year will most likely see the launch of more large-scale maps to the battle royale title.

"PUBG" has sold more than 70 million copies across consoles and PC while "PUBG Mobile" has more than 600 million downloads. "PUBG" is anticipating the arrival of Season 10, while "PUBG Mobile" is currently on its Season 17. There were rumors earlier that devs might launch a tournament-style auto battler mode called Vostok on the PC game.

Based on a recent post in the official "PUBG Mobile" Malaysia Instagram account, a new map is coming to "PUBG Mobile." The launch of the new map will reportedly happen on Jan. 22. There are not many details revealed about the map, but rumors have it that it could be the Karakin map.

The hit mobile title is currently on its Season 17 themed Runic Power. The game also introduced a new mode, which allowed players to have special powers based on the kind of runes they equip. Meanwhile, fans in India are still wondering as to when they would hear news about the launch of "PUBG Mobile India." The game was banned in the region last year, along with 117 other apps related to China.

"PUBG" is playable on PC and consoles while "PUBG Mobile" is available on iOS and Android devices.
