Police say an Orlando television reporter was among the three people killed in a shooting spree in Florida on Wednesday while covering one of the incidents.

Sheriff John Mina of Orange County announced that 19-year-old Keith Melvin Moses has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning.

Mina stated at a news conference that the individuals were employed by Spectrum News 13.

Earlier on Twitter, the Orange County Sheriff's Office announced that one person was in custody.

Mina stated that Moses is anticipated to be accused of four further gunshots that occurred later in the day, including the murder of the Spectrum News 13 journalist.

Mina said that deputies were dispatched to the 6100 block of Hialeah Street at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, where they discovered a 20-year-old woman who had been shot and died from her wounds.

He stated that detectives responded and gathered evidence.

Police do not know why the suspect reportedly targeted the two journalists and the mother and daughter who were shot, according to Mina.

"At 4:05, we received 911 calls about another shooting at that location and a shooting nearby," Mina said.

Moses, according to the sheriff, has an extensive criminal record that includes crimes involving firearms, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Mina reported that the two journalists, a photographer and a reporter, were shot in or around their vehicle while covering the homicide that morning.

"That vehicle was almost exactly in the same spot as the vehicle was from the homicide this morning. So it's unclear why exactly they were targeted. And you know certainly we're going to look into that, and we will definitely let you know," Mina said.

The sheriff stated that the vehicle did not have the typical insignia of a news vehicle.

"It is with deep sadness that @RTDNA learns of the death of a @MyNews13 journalist in Orlando," Radio Television Digital News Association CEO Dan Shelley tweeted. "He was 1 of 2 of the station's journalists shot covering a previous crime in a residential area. Sending thoughts of peace and comfort to their families, friends & the other victims."

Immediately after that shooting, police proceeded to the location of a third shooting and discovered a lady and her 9-year-old daughter shot inside a home on Harrington Street. The 9-year-old has died, according to the sheriff.

According to Mina, it is unknown why the suspect entered the residence.
