It has never been a busier time for Carrie Underwood! Not only has the country music diva, who is 41 years old, decided to extend her residency at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas until the year 2025, but she has also agreed to become a member of the judging panel for the forthcoming season of "American Idol."

"Carrie used to give herself a very hard time about being away from her children for work," a source told Life & Style Magazine. "But she's realized it's the quality of the time she spends with them that matters most, so when she isn't working, she is super present."

Isaiah, who is nine years old, and Jacob, who is five, are the two young sons the eight-time Grammy winner shares with her husband, Mike Fisher.

In an interview, she revealed her son's sweet reaction to her return to "American Idol" as a judge on the show's 23rd season. This comes after she won the top prize in the fourth competition season.

Underwood explained to PEOPLE Magazine, "My son thinks I'm singing somewhere, so he's like, 'God please give her all the right words and help her sing great.'" Fisher, 44, then had to correct his little one. "Mike was like, 'She's not singing,'" the mom of two recalled.

"The don't really know what I do," she revealed. "They do, but they don't, which I kind of love. I'm mom to them."

Even though Underwood's children did not witness her on “American Idol” for the first time, they are enthusiastic about watching their mom on television in 2025, when the singing competition will again be broadcast on ABC.

When she is at home in Nashville, she can be a mother to them.

"For Carrie, nothing compares to time spent at home with her family, tending to her animals and her garden," the source said. "Life at home is simple and happy, so far removed from the glitz and glam of perform-ing, and she does her best to soak up those moments before she's due back at work."

It will only become more challenging to find them in October, when Underwood will be traveling with Ryan Seacrest, the presenter of "American Idol," and Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, two of her fellow judges.

As the source acknowledged, striking a balance can be challenging at times. In the end, though, Carrie has accepted that she isn't a superwoman.
