“Pokemon Go” players are eager to see what lies ahead although most believe that Gen 4 pocket monsters will soon invade the augmented reality game. Apparently, that time has come after Niantic confirmed they are coming through a post and a teaser video that popped up their website.

For those who are unaware of the Pokemon Go Gen 4 update, this is tied to the generation of Pokemon that includes Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. They also include the new evolution of creatures from previous generations plus new baby Pokemon and new Legendary pocket monsters, Eurogamer said.

The invasion of Gen 4 Pokemon will also be the second largest addition of critters to the game since its debut in 2016. With something huge as this coming, the big question is when will it all go down? There are suggestions that the big day could happen on Oct. 23, the time when Mewtwo would disappear from raids.

Also, this would be a perfect time since it comes a week near Halloween. As mentioned in a previous post, many are expecting something big once again this year – the time when Niantic usually unleashes new creatures, items, and events. Pokemon Go gamers who have been around since the release of Gen 2 and Gen 3 pocket monsters are fully aware of this cycle.

Looking at it broadly, the immediate things that come to a player’s mind would be the new critters, items, and rewards. However, there are expected changes for the Gen 4 Pokemon to look forward to.

At the top of the list is more evolutions compared to previous Pokemon Go Gen classes. For Gen 4, there will be 22 evolutions in total. Six baby Pokemon which evolve into previous generations are to be expected and many Pokemon will come in a variety of forms (i.e. Wormadam, Shellos, and Rotum).

There will also be nine Legendaries and five Mythical Pokemon coming, more than what previous generations have offered. Aside from the critters, there will also be significant changes to the game itself to make it more competitive.

US Gamer shares that every Pokemon will have different stat values. CP values will be adjusted while HP values will be tweaked to close the gap between high and low HP critters. Defense and stamina valued will be re-balanced as well to properly define which Pokemon are best for battle and which do not.

There is apparently a lot to look forward to once the Pokemon Go Gen 4 Evolution Event goes down. Similar to past years, most are expecting double XP, new evolution items like elemental stones, and increased spawn rates happening anytime this month. With no word on when this will start, all one can do is keep on playing Pokemon Go and wait for something special to pop up when they log on.
