Remember Youtube Rewind 2018? Yes, it was released last year. If you think that the video is not impressive, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki will agree with you as she admitted that it is a "hot mess."

In a blog post on Youtube, Wojcicki admitted the video "didn't accurately show the year's key moments, nor did it reflect the YouTube you know." Wojcicki also said that YouTube will "do better to tell our story in 2019" and admitted that her kids called the Rewind 2018 video "cringey." She added that (we) witnessed how the bad actions of a few individuals can negatively impact the entire creator ecosystem. With that, the team wants to focus more on responsible growth.

Aside from tackling the Youtube Rewind 2018, Youtube CEO also discussed some changes in their policy and products to improve users' experience. She said her priorities are: 1) Supporting creator and artist success; 2) Improving communication and engagement, and 3) Living up to our responsibility.

YouTube Rewind 2018 reached over 160 million views. However, it did not get positive so much positive feedback from online users around the world. Many people criticized the video for not accurately reflecting the YouTube community in 2018. Some users pointed out the video didn't mention PewDiePie vs. T-Series, a competition between Youtube Channels for the most subscribed channel, the fight between KSI and Logan Paul and his suicide forest video, according to Android Authority. Many people got mad with Youtube Rewind 2018 because it catered too much to the mainstream. The video featured celebrities like Will Smith, Trevor Noah, and John Oliver. However, it did not include prominent YouTubers like PewDiePie, the Paul brothers, H3H3 Productions, nigahiga, and more.

Currently, the YouTube Rewind 2018 video garnered 15 million dislikes, thus making it the most the most disliked video on YouTube. As a matter of fact, it surpassed Justin Bieber's "Baby" with the 10 million dislikes.

YouTube Rewind 2018 was published on December 6, 2018. Since the day it was posted, it received backlash. Marques Brownlee, one of the Youtuber addressed the controversy, while others work on their own versions of Rewind, The Verge reported.
Between 2011 and 2014, Youtube Rewind videos featured most influential creators and funny memes that the community also celebrated. But in 2015, you may notice some changes Rewind 2015. The in 2017 and continued into 2018, there are more obvious changes become noticeable.
