Every time Apple is set to release a new iPhone model, fans are sure to discover tons of rumors circulating on the internet. Now, new rumors suggest the upcoming flagships might sport a new look: one that involves frosted glass.

According to research notes released by renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino tech giant might release new iPhones that feature a frosted glass look. At the moment, though, it's unclear if Apple will use a mixture of glassy and matte glass, 9to5Mac noted. Or if ever Apple will create an all-matte iPhone -- with a matte front and back.

While it's interesting to see how Apple will introduce a frosted glass look in their upcoming 2019 flagships, fans already have an idea as to how good it may be thanks to Google's latest Pixel phones, the Pixel 3. 9to5Google noted how the Pixel 3 put frosted glass to good use, by introducing a glass phone that feels good to the hand.

Should the rumor prove true and Apple does release iPhones with frosted glass backs, users will notice the difference in both texture and overall look. Glossy glass surfaces tend to get smudged easily and are quite slippery at times. A matte glass back will help keep phones in a user's hand, while helping to avoid that smudged look.

One more benefit to using frosted glass on the iPhone, 9to5Mac notes, is how it will help establish a "sense of front and back." Simply put, matte glass makes it easy for users to determine the iPhone's front and back sides even without having to look.

Will Apple release an iPhone line that uses a frosted glass design? That's unclear as of the moment. For now, fans will just have to enjoy the glossy glass-bodied iPhones while waiting for the next models to be revealed.

Other rumored specs

Aside from this, there are other specs rumored to come to this year's iPhone line. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's notes reveal some of them:

"Bilateral wireless charging." Apple's upcoming flagships are rumored to have the capacity to charge other devices,  BGR noted. Imagine the iPhone as a power bank that can charge other devices, such as AirPods, wirelessly.

"Larger batteries." Apple will likely equip the new iPhones with larger batteries. This will allow them to stay on longer, even while running power-hungry apps.

"UWB or 'Ultra-Wide Band'." The new iPhones are also rumored to feature UWB, which will allow for better navigation even in indoor settings.
