A major leak will give Apple fans a reason not to buy the new AirPods 2.

Apple's new iOS 12.2 has been released, bringing new features to iOS devices. Hidden deep inside IOS 12.2, however, is a very interesting bit of information that fans of the Beats Powerbeats series will surely love.

iOS 12.2 includes images of a new and "truly wireless" version of the Beats headphones. Called "Powerbeats Pro," the new wireless headphones will succeed the existing Powerbeats3, and just might be what AirPods fans would want. The images were spotted by 9To5Mac's Guilherme Rambo.

Rambo said the new Powerbeats Pro looks similar to the Powerbeats3, but without the wires. The new audio device will come with a charging case that looks similar to the AirPods charging case, and will, theoretically, charge them up whenever they are not in use and stored inside the case.

The leak doesn't give details regarding battery life. The Powerbeats3 had a long battery life that lasted up to 12 hours. It's unknown if the Powerbeats Pro will last that long on a single charge.

AirPods 2 or Powerbeats Pro?

Although the new headphones are still afar off, it would be a good idea to wait for it to be released before spending money on the new AirPods. Sure, the new Powerbeats Pro will cost than the AirPods 2, but the new audio device has some features fans will find attractive and useful.

First, the Powerbeats Pro will feature the Apple-designed H1 chip, which is also present in the new AirPods. This allows the Powerbeats Pro to feature faster and easier connection, better audio quality, longer talk time, and the convenience of "Hey Siri." Powerbeats Pro can do what the AirPods 2 does.

Second, the Powerbeats Pro features ear clips that allow them to stay in place no matter the activity. These workout-friendly headphones can be worn while running, biking, jumping, and all that. Users won't need to worry about them falling in the most unpleasant of places.

Third, the Powerbeats Pro will come with different ear tip designs allowing for a more customized. Wrongly-sized ear tips greatly affect sound quality. The Powerbeats Pro has a solution to that.

Lastly, and arguably one of the most important reasons for many, the Powerbeats Pro will come in white or black. Apple fans have been asking for a black version of the AirPods, but don't see any to date. The Powerbeats Pro just might be what they are all looking for.

The Powerbeats Pro's price is unknown at the moment. Powerbeats3 sells for $199 right now, and so fans should expect it to sell a bit more.
