It used to be that premium design, features and capabilities on a smartphone equate to a flagship choice when buying. Thanks to Huawei, the market segment has been redefined radically and consumers have been reaping the benefits. One solid example of this new reality is the Huawei P30 Lite, its marketing label for global release, which its maker debuted in mainland China as the Huawei Nova 4e.
In recent years, Huawei muscled its way to the top by introducing handsets that appeal to all sort of users. For the company's flagship efforts, the Mate and P series proved certifiable hits that in large part allowed the company to overtake rivals, which include the titan foe that is Apple.
Then there's the regular Y and Y Pro lineup that became an immediate draw for the budget-conscious buyers. And to cover all strategic areas, Huawei likewise competed in the mid-range and had millions of buyers enraptured with device models that boast of near-flagship specifications but with a pricing model that hit the sweet spot for most buyers.
The latest in this string of successful releases for Huawei is the P30 Lite/Nova 4e that is part of the company's signature hero phone brands. As such, the handset screams of characteristics that Android fans find hard to ignore, and below are just a few of these compelling selling points.
Exceptional hardware
It has become a mark by Huawei to roll out phones pimped up by superior hardware, and in the case of the P30 Lite/Nova 4e, the specs are more than adequate. In this department, the headline component is the 8-core Kirin 710 processor, humming at 2.2GHz, that works in tandem with up to 6GB of RAM. Taking care of the GPU muscle on the phone is the Mali-G51 that makes for satisfying gaming and media consuming experience. The onboard storage is at 128GB and can be extended up to 512GB on the account of a built-in microSD slot.
Exquisite design
The Huawei design language highlights the use of glass panel, more pronounced on the back, on P30 Lite/Nova 4e, which immediately stuns. The build quality too can only be described as premium, which is true for both the look and feel aspects. There is little argument that this phone, given its superlative internals and gorgeous industrial design, is a flagship device masquerading as a mid-range option. This is true at least for the overall performance and experience that the phone delivers.
A shooting star
But really, the P30 Lite/Nova 4e excels when its shooting prowess is put to test. The whole camera setup, 32MP on front and triple setting (24MP as main, 8MP ultra-wide-angle and 2MP as depth sensor) on the rear, is simply a killer feature. It is far from perfect but the phone camera gets the job done, that is the creation of images - stills and moving - that wow with color accuracy and minute details. Truth be told, four cameras on the P30 Lite/Nova 4e seems overkill but nobody is complaining.
Affordable 'flagship'
Even more welcome for Android and Huawei fans alike is Huawei's aggressive pricing approach for the P30 Lite/Nova 4e. In China, the price starts at 2000 yuan and for the rest of the world, the asking price is a little over $300, certainly a small price to experience the beautiful and powerful setup that the handset was engineered to be.
Powering up the P30 Lite/Nova 4e is Android Pie 9.0, under the layer of EMUI 9.0 that Huawei said will soon be updated to version 9.1. There is a good chance as well that the phone will receive the next Android build coming from Google.
