A new "Stranger Things" mobile game is currently in the works. The upcoming title is highly likely to take inspiration from the popular augmented reality mobile game "Pokemon Go." The team behind this soon to be released title would like to bring the concept of friendship and supernatural adventure of the hit Netflix series into the game.

According to Gamasutra, the "Stranger Things" mobile game is currently being developed by the team behind the game "The Walking Dead: Our World," Next Games. Aside from themed after the hit flick, it will be a free to play game that will integrate Google Maps and several other social elements. The gameplay experiences will be based on the player's location.

So far, "Stranger Things" mobile game is billed as a puzzle and an RPG game and it is most likely to use the phenomenal game "Pokemon GO" as its inspiration. At present, Netflix collaborates with the Finnish game developer Next Games for the upcoming title that should attract "Pokemon GO" players and fans.

The upcoming title will be called "Stranger Things" and will encourage players to walk around the mysterious and unknown realm of the Upside Down. Players will work with other players to fight the evils in the realm. Exploring the neighborhood with friends will never be the same again with this upcoming mobile title.

In a press release, Next Games CEO Teemu Huuhtanen shared that their goal is to bring to "Stranger Things" intense and rich themes like supernatural adventure and friendship into mobile entertainment. Next Games is one of the pioneering developers, next to Niantic labs, when it comes to location-based and licensed games.

The upcoming mobile title is independent of the previously released "Stranger Things" games which were under Telltale Games. The games did not push through since Telltale games suddenly closed its doors on September 2018. So far, those are the only details that we know about the upcoming title.

But, if it is inspired by the hit Netflix series, then it would most likely be like "Pokemon GO" but instead of adorable pocket monsters, players will have to battle against creatures from the Upside Down that would like to get into our current reality. Aside from "Stranger Things", Netflix also announced during E3 another game titled "Dark Crystal Switch."

The "Stranger Things" mobile game from Next Games has a release window of 2020. The game will be available to Android and iOS users. Meanwhile, the hit series with the same title is slated to air on Netflix on July 4.
