NBA has new rookies following the recent NBA Draft at Barclays Center. The two spots are claimed by Duke. But, the real winners in everything that has been recently happening in NBA are David Griffin and the New Orleans Pelicans.
The first pick made by the New Orleans Pelicans is the 6 feet 7 inches amazingly talented Zion Williamson from Duke. Williamson is highly anticipated to be the face of the franchise. The Pelicans traded the No.4 pick in the NBA Draft to Atlanta Hawks. New Orleans is scheduled to have a total of five picks.
The second pick by the Memphis Grizzlies is the point guard from Murray State Ja Morant. He is expected to be the team's main floor general after being traded to Mike Conley to the Utah Jazz. The 6-7 ball handler compared to James Harden is RJ Barrett, the third pick in the NBA Draft. He was picked by New York Knicks, the team he has repeatedly claimed he'd love to play for.
The fourth NBA Draft pick is De'Hunter who went to Atlanta Hawks while point guard Darius Garland of Vanderbilt was selected as the no.5 pick by the Cavaliers. Zion Williamson is the first number 1 overall pick from Duke after almost nine years since Kyrie Irving. He is the second freshmen ever to win the Naismith Award and be the number 1 pick post-Anthony Davis of Kentucky, who was recently traded by the New Orleans Pelicans to LA Lakers.
After the dust settles, David Griffin and the New Orleans Pelicans are really the winners. In just a couple of months on his job as the VP of basketball operations, Griffin has been an unstoppable force in New Orleans. He got the franchise-redefining number 1 NBA Draft pick Zion Williamson, and he took one season off Anthony Davis and switched that into Lonzo Ball- a recent Number 2 NBA Draft pick, Brandon Ingram-another NBA Draft number 2 pick, and Josh Hart-a flexible rotation player.
Griffin also made smart picks in the NBA Draft, including Jaxson Hayes, who is a very promising athlete and could potentially become a dynamic defensive power. Another brilliant pick is Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who could also be a defensive dynamo with an impressive shooting ability.
In just several months, the New Orleans Pelicans have transformed from one of the NBA's rubbish heaps to a formidable team with the most interesting line up in the NBA.
