Google translate seems to have misinterpreted an earlier report indicating that CD Projekt is working on three new games, or a second major Cyberpunk title. Following the news, the developer won't confirm or deny if more games are to be added next to Cyberpunk 2077.
Business and financial website Bankier.pl reported July 1 on statements from CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński in Polish. According to online translations, three other projects are in the pipeline, all related to Cyberpunk 2077. When asked for a comment, however, the developer said that's not exactly the case.
"We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects," a representative told Polygon via email, Three teams from those five are said to be working on developing Cyberpunk 2077 further.
CD Projekt made it clear there are five teams working on the house, with three working on Cyberpunk 2077. The fourth team is reportedly assigned to develop card game Gwent, and the fifth, well, it's a secret. What we do know is that it's going to be a mobile game.
That's good info, but it doesn't actually answer the question. CD Projekt was pressed to clear the news whether there are more incoming games related to Cyberpunk 2077 or none, and the only answer it could give at the moment is a vague "We do not have more comments on the topic."
The good folks over at Polygon had the chance to talk to R. Talsorian Games (Cyberpunk 2077 is being produced under its license), publishers of the original Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG, if it's within their agreement to allow for multiple times. As expected, the publisher declined to make a clear answer and said that questions related to CD Projekt are answerable by the developer alone.
It's quite odd to have separate teams working on the same game, but CD Projekt said it's their way of organizing stuff around the studio. One of those teams has to be working on DLC, and perhaps another is designing a multiplayer mode. That's all we can do for now, to keep guessing, and wait for the developer to make an official announcement. We hope that's sooner than soon.
Cyberpunk 2077 is released April 16, 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Scheduled this August is a starter set for Cyberpunk Red, a tabletop RPG by R. Talsorian Games. We'll update you on that as well.
