After a lot of time spent waiting, EA Access, subscription-based gaming service is finally available on the PlayStation platform. Electronic Arts said that the service would cost $4.99 on a monthly basis, or $29.99 if gamers choose an annual subscription.
EA confirmed in May that EA Access will finally be available for the PlayStation 4. The service was initially launched way back in 2014 for Microsoft's flagship console, the Xbox One. The service found its way into the PC platform and 2016.
The reason why PlayStation owners have to wait for five years to get their hands into EA Access is due to Sony's stance claiming that it is not worth it. In a statement, Sony once said, "We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect."
Nevertheless, probably because of pressure from PlayStation 4 owners and the overwhelming success of EA Access, Sony has finally flipped the switch and allow it access into its platform. It would appear that the appeal of EA Access is not lost to Sony. Electronic Arts is one of the biggest video game publishers in the world, and having accesss to its library of games is always a priority to some gamers. The company also has a huge following, not only in the Xbox community, but the whole gaming community as well.
By subscribing to EA Access, gamers can access a growing library of games which EA simply calls "The Vault." The library consists of popular video game titles such as Battlefield V, Madden NFL 19, and Titanfall 2.
Aside from access to these premium games, EA Access also gives members 10% discount on all digital EA titles and contents. On top of that, members can also access the Play First trials, which is a sort of preview teaser version of a game. Members can access these before the game officially hits the market.
Aside from early access to upcoming games through Play First, players can actually use their save files in the Play First service once they buy the actual game. Madden NFL 20 is currently on trial in Play First, and the game will be released on August 2. This means that Play First players can have weeks of playing time ahead of the game's official release.
