Pre-registration for Pokemon Masters are now open on both iOS and Android devices through the App Store and Google Play, respectively. The Official Pokemon Masters Channel also uploaded six new gameplay videos to keep the hype up in the strategy and battle game, which pits players in a 3v3 match against AI.
Brock and Misty will both appear in the game, in which players are taken on an island to collect badges and train to battle it out in the Pokemon Masters League. The new videos detail the game's Story Mode and how to evolve monsters.
Featured in the videos are different how-to's, including how cooperative player works, how to switch between sync pairs -- that's what the game calls trainer-monster pairs that travel together -- during battle. They will also teach you how to add new sync pairs to your team and how to build the perfect team based on each sync pair's strengths.
The one standout element is battling, with a turn-based style that reminds us of the core Pokemon games and net custom animations. However, what sets it apart is its simple move sets that make the game similar to Pokemon Let's Go in practice.
You typically play as a trio of trainers, each having a unique pokemon that can be exchanged in between. Obviously, each pokemon has a special move that's activated once you've charged up a meter over the course of battle. When playing co-op mode against other human players or AI opponents, you can aslo combine abilities.
The game is developed by Japanese mobile powerhouse DeNA, the same company that helped Nintendo develop mobile versions for popular franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart. And for the first time, this is a Nintendo-affiliated title that's being published by DeNA, and not by Nintendo itself.
There's a preview version available in Singapore for users with supported Android devices. The preview version will reportedly rollout in Canada "soon." Any progress players make during the trial period will be saved and carried over to the full game when it is released.
DeNA originally wouldn't say when Pokémon Masters is coming out on iOS and Android, but the company maintained a summer 2019 window for release that likely meant the game would arrive some time in the next month or so. True to its word, DeNA is saying confirmed in an update today that the game is coming out on August 29 in both iOS and Android platforms.
