The much-awaited production of the Tesla Solar Roof might finally be happening if the recent update from the company's CEO is to be believed. On his official Twitter account, Elon Musk shared that the company is currently trying to quickly assemble its special shingle's production line. With this, the company will be able to produce Tesla Solar Roof at approximately 1,000 per week by the end of the year.
Elon Musk's comment was a response to Ride the Lightning podcast host and Tesla owner-enthusiast Ryan McCaffrey. The host asked about the release of the Tesla Solar Roof. Earlier, Musk mentioned that the release of the famed Solar Roof might take a while than anticipated because of the lengthy development process for the shingles.
Because of this, installations of Tesla Solar Roof have already begun, but it is limited and in small quantities at the moment. The looming increase in the production of Tesla Solar Roof at the rate of approximately 1000 per week is important to the groundbreaking product. It can be recalled that at the unveiling event of Tesla Model Y, Elon Musk said that the company would focus on its energy products this year. He even goes as far as to say that 2019 is going to be the Year of the Powerwall and Solar Roof. With almost a couple of quarters remaining into 2019, and this increase in production will come to its completion.
Most critics basically used the broken promises of the company when criticizing the company's performance. There was even a report in May saying that only approximately 21 Tesla Solar Roof installations have been finished at the end of February 2019. One of the sources of the report was a former Tesla employee who claimed that only a few installations had been completed in the northeastern part of the US.
For its part, the company issued a statement responding to the report. According to the company, the number of Tesla Solar Roof that the report cited is unrepresentative and low since the company is currently actively installing Tesla Solar Roof in eight US states. With the recent update from Elon Musk, it is highly likely that Tesla Solar Roof installations will dramatically increase.
