Red Dead Online finally left beta testing back in May, promising some good changes to Red Dead Redemption 2's multiplayer component with it. We've definitely seen Rockstar's effort, but that's not all there is.
Rockstar a while back promised an update regarding a new role-playing system, in which a number of classes would be introduced. It should allow players to specialize their skill sets. But we haven't heard much about these roles since then, but the developer confirmed today that it's going to release the first three roles in an update that's happening very soon.
First in line is the Bounty Hunter, which we think is going to be a popular choice. With this role, players can hunt down both human and non-human targets for profit. Your character will have a lasso for challenging opponents, and you also get to have a gun-spinning trick for sure. The description also says that the Bounty Hunter has "the ability to use Eagle-Eye while sprinting, galloping on horseback."
Next is the Trader, a role whose special skills involve capitalism and commerce. If you choose this role, you'll have the ability to build a business by selling, producing, and collecting valuable materials in Red Dead Online's economy. You also get to have a slew of exclusive Camp Upgrade options, including "a Weapons Locker, Stew Pot and even allow any canine companion to warn of impending attacks on the camp."
The last of the first three roles is the Collector, who, as the name applies, collects all sorts of things. The Collector will be able to obtain treasures and rare commodities, and you also get to have your own special horse lantern, refined binoculars, and of course, a metal detector.
Red Dead Online will have more updates in the new future, including one that will improve the movement system and controls, and players will be allowed to reset the appearance of their characer in the future. Here are the full details on Rockstar's Newswire here for more info. The studio has yet to announce a firm release date for the update, but rest assured it'll be here soon.
Rockstar will announce more updates in the weeks to come; these seem to be less about content and more about quality of life improvements, including "substantial, across the board changes to combat and movement to allow for a more responsive control system that still feels natural." There will be more protection for Defensive style players, and more world loot.
