Due to the unexpected success of the Pocophone F1, many consumers are expecting that Xiaomi will release its predecessor. With countless rumors and speculations, most of the consumers are currently bewildered if the highly anticipated predecessor is going to be released. Several tech sites previously reported that there is a chance that the Pocophone might be discontinued, but Xiaomi was quick to correct this.
Recently, a new report claims that the much-awaited Pocophone F2 could be released in the last quarter of 2019. The report, however, failed to name its source or its basis for declaring that the highly anticipated flagship killer smartphone will be released at that time frame. And since it does not officially come from Xiaomi or Poco, take this information with a barrel of salt and fervent skepticism.
But, this is not to say that Pocophone F2 is not releasing. Several leaked images and claims point out that the smartphone is coming soon. In fact, a new patent filing was discovered by LetsGoDigital and showed a smartphone that is eerily similar to the current design of Pocophone F1. Based on the patents filed by Xiaomi, the device has a hole-punch cutout for the front camera.
In terms of camera specifications, the Pocophone F2 is expected to sport a triple rear camera setup. This could include a telephoto or a depth sensor, a primary camera, and an ultrawide sensor. Recently, Xiaomi announced that it will soon launch a smartphone that will house a 64 MP sensor and another smartphone that will have a 108 MP sensor.

Xiaomi collaborated with Samsung and developed the ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor along with the 108-megapixel ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor. There is a great chance that one of these sensors could be featured in Pocophone F2. And, it would really be one of the strong selling points of the much-awaited POC F2 smartphone.
In the Philippines, Xiaomi already discontinued the Pocophone F1 and recommended that fans should pick the Xiaomi Mi9 instead. This, along with other rumors, triggered many to think that the Pocophone F2 will no longer arrive or that the Pocophone series will be discontinued.
However, this was clarified by Xiaomi India CMO Anuj Sharma in one of his interviews. According to the CMO, the Pocophone series will not be discontinued, and so far, they are considering ways to keep the Poco and Redmi brands unique from one another in terms of value proposition and price. Although the CMO did not directly confirm the existence of the Pocophone F2, it is only logical to conclude that it is set to be released soon or that it is in the works.
