Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted Alexis Sanchez could leave Manchester United before the European transfer window closes.
Inter Milan have been interested in Sanchez and are reportedly keen on signing him before the Serie A window closes in September. It is understood that United are open to the idea of the Chilean leaving since Solskjaer thinks of him as surplus.
The 30-year-old has caught the interest of the Italian club, but according to United sources, the two clubs actually haven't met to discuss any deals yet. There have been reports implying that Sanchez's agent Fernando Felicevich is sensationalizing interest in his client in a bid to force through a move within the next fortnight.
"There's still a couple of weeks left of the transfer window," Solskjaer said after United drew at Wolves. "And there is a chance some clubs have shown interest in Alexis, so we'll see what happens. Can't update you more than that."
Inter are the potential destination for Sanchez, with coach Antonio Conte reportedly keen on a winger, following Ivan Perisic's move to Bayern Munich on loan for the entire season.
Previous reports claim that Inter were looking to make a loan move for Gareth Bale during the season if it happened that he joined Jiangsu Suning. The Chinese Super League club is owned by the Suning Appliance Group that is the sister company of Inter's owners, Suning Holdings Group.
In March, it was reported that Solskjaer was not convinced with Sanchez as the English club settled on a transfer plan change ahead of the summer window. At 400,000 euros per week, Sanchez is the highest earner at United but was started just 13 times last season. He also managed to complete only 90 minutes in the opener versus Leicester. He has scored five times since joining from Arsenal in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan a year ago.
At United, Sanchez made good friends with Romelu Lukaku and already, there are reports that his former teammate is urging him to sign to Inter. However, Solskjaer is claiming that Sanchez still wants to stay at United. He missed pre-season because of his commitments to Copa America.
"Alexis is such a professional and he comes in working every single day really hard," Solskjaer said. "And he wants to be a part of this and it's these stories he's again that he's been put in the reserves, of course he hasn't. He's a part of our squad and a very, very good player."
