Microsoft has been very quiet about its hardware lineup. But, recently, the Redmond-based tech giant sent invitations to a Surface event happening in New York City on October 2. The Microsoft Surface event could be the platform where the company could launch its new products including a dual-screen device, Surface Pro 7, and many others.
Dual-Screen Device
One of the most interesting devices that could be announced or teased during the Microsoft Surface event this year is the dual-screen device with the code name Centaurus. Most likely, the company will not launch it this year, considering that Apple is rumored to release a foldable iPad in 2020. The dual-screen device from Microsoft is speculated to match Apple's foldable iPad.
Surface Laptop 3
Microsoft is also expected to provide a refresh to the Surface Laptop 3 this year. The company might announce some improvements to the new Surface Laptop lineup during the Microsoft Surface Event. This could include a bump on its specification and the integration of USB-C.
While a refresh is anticipated, tech enthusiasts assume that the refresh will not apply massive changes to the product. Rumors have it that the Redmond-based company might launch an AMD variant of the Surface Laptop 3. The Surface Connection port is also expected to be replaced by USB-C according to speculations.
Surface Book 3
Microsoft Surface Book 3 is also expected to get a refresh, and that might be announced on the upcoming Microsoft Surface event. However, substantial changes in the design of the Surface Book 3 are not really expected. Most likely, there will be updates on the internal specification of the device like a shift to the 10th generation processor.
Rumors have it that the Microsoft Surface Book 3 might be updated with Thunderbolt 3 support instead of the USB-C port that is already present in Surface Book 2.
Surface Pro 7
Alongside the new Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Book 3, it is possible that Surface Pro 7 might be announced during the Microsoft Surface event in October. While not so many improvements are expected on the Surface Pro 7, many believe that it will receive updated internals and a USB-C replacing the Surface Connect port. According to some speculations, the Surface Pro 7 might be released this time with an LTE variant powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx processor.
Windows Central noted that this could be the device concealed under the code name Excalibur and could surface during the Microsoft Surface event.
Accessories and Software
The upcoming Microsoft Surface event in October might also unveil new accessories like new Surface earbuds hidden under the code name Morrison. Rumors suggest that the company is also working on keyboards that come with a Microsoft Office dedicated button. The company is also expected to introduce teams For Life, which is the new version of the company's Microsoft Teams for consumers.
