Xiaomi announces the Redmi Note 8 Pro, its latest entry in the popular Redmi Note series. Just like its predecessor, the latest smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker boasts its first-ever 64-megapixel camera sensor. Two days ago, Xiaomi unveiled the XT with the same camera sensor.

Many fans want a higher megapixel camera sensor on their smartphones not only for the sole purpose of capturing photos on their full resolution. Both the 48-megapixel smartphone and the 64-megapixel use 0.8 μm clustered in fours to achieve better light sensitivity that is equivalent to 1.6 μm pixels. While the 48-megapixel shooter will give a 12-megapixel resolution, the 64 megapixels of Redmi Note 8 Pro will produce a 16 megapixel of usable resolution.

The 64 megapixel on Redmi Note 8 Pro is much bigger, which means it can accommodate more light essential in achieving better results. In addition to the 64 MP camera sensor, the latest device in Redmi Note series sports a 6.55 inches Corning GG5 glass display with 1080p screen. It also has a quad-camera setup with the 64 MP sensor as its primary camera, the 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a couple of 2 MP assistive sensors alongside the 20 MP selfie camera.

Redmi Note 8 Pro utilizes Helio G90T processor from MediaTek, which is perfect for running games on the smartphone. The new smartphone is available in 6 GB or 8 GB RAM and storage size of either 64 GB or 128 GB. The base variant, which is the Redmi Note 8 sports a 6.3 inches display, 1080p screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 655 processor and a fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear.

It also comes with a quad-camera setup that shifts the 64 MP camera sensor to 48 MP. The selfie camera of the Redmi Note 8 is 13 MP and a 4000 mAh battery pack with up to 18W charging. The Redmi Note 8 is available at around $140 while the Redmi Note 8 Pro can be retailed at $195. Both variants will first launch on China before it will be released in India.
