Paris Saint Germain star Neymar will not be leaving the French capital with recent reports stating that the Brazilian footballer has already relayed the news to his family that he is staying in Paris this season. According to L'Equipe, Neymar has also informed both Barcelona and PSG about his decision of staying with the Ligue 1 outlet. But, as the debris of summer transfer tumult slowly dies down, another report claims that Neymar is a huge waste of money for the PSG.

The Neymar transfer saga this season finally comes to an end with the 27 years old footballer deciding to stay with his current team, Paris Saint Germain. According to Joaquim Piera, a Catalan based journalist, the situation has already reached a point where Neymar himself was willing to shell off €20 million of his personal money for the transfer to materialize. However, this was rejected by the new sporting director of PSG, Leonardo.

Business Insider, earlier today reports that Neymar is a massive waste of money for the Paris Saint Germain. He was the most expensive football player when he moved to PSG in 2017 and was expected to be the team's superstar player. The Ligue 1 outlet paid $250 million for a five-year contract which can be translated to roughly $784,000 pay.

Neymar is the second-highest-paid player next to Carlos Teves, but since he moved to the team, he only made 51 goals in 58 games. He won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award and contributed to the team to maintain Ligue 1 titles. But, according to the report, the Brazilian player has been ineffective, absent, and extremely expensive.

Neymar is among the top ten contributors in the top five leagues in Europe making 71 goals and assists in the Champions League and Ligue 1 for the past couple of seasons. However, the cost of his contributions to the team compared to his weekly salary deems the efforts of the Brazilian footballer meek especially if compared to players of his level such as Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool FC, and Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus.

Neymar's excessive salary simply means that he has cost Paris Saint Germain around $1.15 million for each assist or goal for this season. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo made 86 goals or assists this season, which could be translated to $927,000 for every contribution. Lionel Messi, on the other hand, managed to make 110 assists or goals, which costs Barcelona around $595,000 for each contribution.

But, Liverpool's Salah proved to be the most cost-effective of all players. He made 29 assists and 69 goals and only cost Liverpool around $199,000 for each contribution. The amount is just a sixth of what Neymar is costing Paris Saint Germain, says Business Insider.

The report also claims that Neymar had a minimal effect on the final standing of Paris Saint Germain in Ligue 1. The Brazilian footballer only contributed nine points in each of the campaigns. In other words, even without him, the PSG could still take home the league title in both seasons.
