FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique recently revealed that he has been in contact with his former teammate and now Paris Saint Germain player Neymar. They have been talking since La Liga's 5-2 victory against Real Betis. The Barca defender also shared that he and his teammates want Neymar to return to Camp Nuo.
Express' Mikael McKenzie happened to have a brief talk with the former Manchester United player after he ranked second in a poker tournament held in Barcelona. This was the same event that he and Neymar attended before. Gerard Pique said that he was lucky to finish second and would like to share it with Neymar because the Brazilian star loves poker and they both share the same hobby.
Gerard Pique also shared that he was talking to Neymar and discussing his future when he was asked about the Brazilian's transfer rumor. The Barca defender admitted that although he had spoken with Neymar, he cannot reveal more details about those conversations. In an interview with Television Espanola, Pique revealed his team's desire to have Neymar return to Barcelona.
He said that they want Neymar to come back, but it is something that they cannot control. He added that they would have to leave it in the hands of those who decide. According to Pisani, Barcelona is confident that before the September 2 deadline they will be able to ink a deal for the Brazilian star.
Negotiations have been ongoing, and so far, Catalans offered €160 million (£144m/$177m) to have Neymar back. It can be recalled that the Brazilian player was with Blaugrana from 2013 to 2017 where they won La Liga twice, the 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League, and the Copa del Rey titles three times.
Neymar transferred to Paris Saint Germain a couple of years ago but has been strongly associated with a return to Barcelona throughout the summer. The Brazilian footballer is yet to play for his current team for this season since PSG Manager Thomas Tuchel did not allow him to practice or play until things about his future are settled.
Tuchel stresses Neymar could play, but he will respect the decision of the PSG leaders. Until a final decision has been made over Neymar's future, he will not take to the pitch." #PSGTFC — Jonathan Johnson (@Jon_LeGossip) August 24, 2019
Barcelona is not the only team interested in Neymar. Several reports were claiming that he is also being courted by Real Madrid. Neymar has made 51 goals in 58 matches under Les Parisiens, an impressive feat for a player who has struggled with injuries.
