"Battlefield V" receives a new update today. Patch 4.4 is live now to all players across all platforms. The latest update adds two new maps, introduces new weapons, boosts character ranks to 500, and more importantly, rolls out fixes and improvements.
Update 4.4 is a massive one, which is 22 GB on PC and 16 GB on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The latest update introduces two new close-quarter maps to "Battlefield V" players, which are Lofoten Island and Provence. It also raises Max Career Rank from 50 to 500 while rolling out stability improvements and balance changes. There are also a couple of new weapons that players can enjoy.
Lofoten Island and Provence were previously unveiled at conventions, so these two are no longer a surprise to "Battlefield V" players. The bad news is that these maps are only available in team Deathmatch and Squad Conquest with no versions for the bigger modes like Conquest. The latest update also introduces the Breda M1935 PG and the Panzerbusche 39, the two new "Battlefield V" weapons that can be unlocked through the Tides of War challenges.
The earlier promised max rank boost is also included in update 4.4, increasing the level cap from 50 to 500. With the new patch, "Battlefield V" players will experience lesser instances of stuttering. DICE also provided a few tweaks to SMGs and sniper rifles. The game developer is structuring the game's files in order to reduce the size of future updates, so it is understandable that the latest update is quite meaty.
Although update 4.4 is larger than usual, the game developer has a good reason for this. According to "Battlefield" Community Manager Adam Freeman, they have restructured some of "Battlefield V's" file storage. This will enable the game developer to make future improvements in the game. The change also requires them to deliver the files once again through update 4.4.
The community manager also noted that PC users might find that Origin will take longer time than usual Preparing phase, which could potentially last for an hour. Additionally, "Battlefield V" players not restricted by Data Caps by their internet service providers and has fast download speed may opt to uninstall the game and re-install it with the latest update.
"Battlefield V" is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Meanwhile, you can check out the complete list of the contents of update 4.4 in the patch notes provided by DICE.
