AMD has recently discovered an issue in Ryzen 3000 firmware that zaps the boost frequency of its processors. The company released a statement today on its findings after a public investigation and feedback were recently conducted. The survey did not turn out well for AMD as it found out that 94 percent of its AMD Ryzen 39000X 12-Core CPU failed to hit its advertised boost speeds.

AMD, at present, is working on an update that will be rolled out to the company's motherboard partners so they could develop new BIOS software to be released to affected AMD users. The latest statement was released following the expose revealed by YouTuber and computer sage De8auer.

The YouTuber released the results of his public investigation yesterday which revealed the extensive failures of AMD most recent 7nm processors unable to achieve the advertised clock speeds. Among all the processors included in the survey, De8auer discovered that the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X was the greatest offender of all. Only 6 percent of the surveyed CPUs are able to hit the rated speeds.

According to AMD, it is satisfied with the strong momentum of the third generation AMD Ryzen processors among PC enthusiasts as well as in gaming communities. The company also stated that it is closely monitoring the feedback from the community in regards to its products and understood that some of the third generation AMD Ryzen users are experiencing boost clock speeds below the anticipated boost frequency.

AMD further said that the boost frequency of its processors is based on several variables. This includes system design, cooling solution, and workload. Additionally, the company revealed that it has closely taken into account customers' feedback and have determined that an issue in the firmware is responsible for the reduced frequency in some situations.

The company acknowledges that there is a problem with some of AMD Ryzen processors that prevent them from delivering the promised and advertised performance. Although this is not good news, AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs are scheduled to receive performance boost if the advertised BIOS update rolls out and works. But, on the brighter side, AMD shard that it is in the process of releasing a BIOS update to its motherboard partners.

The company hopes that the upcoming BIOS update will address the issue and will bring extra boost and performance optimizations. AMD also promised that it would deliver the update to the community on September 10 in regards to the availability of the BIOS update.
