CD Projekt Red and "Cyberpunk 2077" were not present at the recent gaming conference held in Seattle. Despite this, the game developer never fails to trickle interesting details about the game. The most recent details are about the free DLC and the multiplayer mode currently in the works.
"Cyberpunk 2077" Quest Designer Patrick Mills earlier shared that the multiplayer for the game is currently in the research and development stage although the game will be a single-player title at launch. But, now it appears that the multiplayer is on the way considering that CD Projekt Red recently announced that the mode is currently in the works. The game developer also revealed that it is looking for multiplayer dev team now.
In a series of tweets posted by CD Projekt Red, it states that the only thing that it has shared about the multiplayer mode of the game is that it is in R&D. However, as "Cyberpunk 2077" is inching closer to its release date in April 2020, the game developer now confirms that the multiplayer is in the development stage. Additionally, the tweet links to the official website of CD Projekt Red, which, at the moment, is advertising different roles under the multiplayer category.
1/2 Until now, the only thing we said about multi was that it was in R&D. As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer's in the works! The team is looking for a design director, 3D character artists, and game designer, to name a few. CD Projekt Red also had a 15-minute gameplay streaming session which showed the Pacifica District and new villain groups like the Voodoo Boys. While the streaming triggered several speculations because of the cut scene perspective, none was revealed about the multiplayer of "Cyberpunk 2077."
CD Projekt Red's announcement about the multiplayer campaign of "Cyberpunk 2077" is a bit vague. It does not share any detail if the mode will include elements of coop or PvP. This only shows that it will not be ready for a little while. The game developer also outlines its schedule for the "Cyberpunk 2077" and highlighted the single-player content and free DLC coming soon following the game's official release.
2/2 The plan for now is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April, then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action. — CD PROJEKT RED (@CDPROJEKTRED) September 4, 2019
After the release of the free downloadable content and the single player content, the multiplayer mode will come next. In summary, there is no definite timeline as to when exactly the multiplayer mode of "Cyberpunk 2077" will arrive but it is something to look forward to. Here's to hoping CD Projekt Red will soon reveal more details about the multiplayer experience in "Cyberpunk 2077."
