A new report claims that some Arsenal players have been growing increasingly concerned about Unai Emery's tactics. This season, the Gunners have already played with Tottenham and Liverpool, drawing at home to their local rivals and losing to the Reds 3-1.
According to the Mirror, Emery's tactics in the Liverpool game last month have been the topic inside Arsenal's dressing room. The gaffer's narrow formation was questioned, which was the reason why Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold had a great time on the pitch against the Gunners, with both players finding a lot of space.
The fact that Emery underestimated Liverpool's full-backs and his failure to address it during the match have caused the Arsenal squad to worry about his methods. Additionally, his command of the English language is apparently an issue, as the squad often finds it hard what their manager wants to convey. In fact, it's rumored that the Spaniard's English has become a running joke among the players.
To be fair, Emery has insisted on not using an interpreter in press conferences because he wants to improve his English, which is a rather admirable trait. However, his lack of charisma and personality has always been a problem, which goes way back in his days at Paris Saint-Germain. The 47-year-old had been burdened with managing big egos and name, which is still a problem at the Emirates.
Emery's style of football doesn't sit well with fans either. It is believed Arsenal supporters have struggled to understand what his style is, let alone grow fond of him.
However, it's quite hard to understand the criticism given the consistent wins in the Carabao Cup, Premier League, and Europa League. What easily understood though is the tendency of fans to be bitter whenever a game is lost, with some players casting their doubts as well.
Should Arsenal emerge victorious at Old Trafford next week, fans will put their faith in Emery again. Should they lose, then it's another round of negative feedback again. As for his tenure, the coach must do all that he can to make it into the top four. Otherwise, he'll compromise his position with the club.
In October, Arsenal will have the chance to show off their best form at Anfield again after drawing Liverpool in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. The Reds secured their spot after winning 2-0 over MK Dons, while the Gunners defeated Nottingham Forest 5-0.
