Older models of Apple iPhone and Apple Watch Series will receive the latest build for their devices. The Cupertino-based tech giant recently rolled out the watchOS 5.3.2 and the iOS 12.4.2 update. This latest update to Apple devices and wearables are intended to update the older generation models which do not support the latest Apple firmware, the iOS 13.

The latest Apple iOS 12.4.2 firmware is designed for Apple iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, and iPad Mini 3 along with the sixth generation of iPod touch. These devices do not support the latest Apple iOS 13 firmware. The iOS 12.4.2 update can be downloaded over the air by going to the general section of the Settings app and tapping the Software Update section.

So far, it is not yet clear what will the latest iOS 12.4.2 build will bring to older Apple iPhones and devices. Probably, it will roll out bug fixes and improvements for the older generation Apple devices. According to the release notes, the latest iOS build for old models will offer important security updates and improvements. Additionally, the security support document state that the iOS 12.4.2 will fix a vulnerability that could possibly allow a remote hacker to unexpectedly cause application termination.

In regards to the Apple watchOS 5.3.2, the latest build is intended for Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2. It can be installed on the Apple Watch Series model by opening the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone. Go to General in the Settings app, then tap on Software Update.

Apple recently seeded its latest iOS firmware, the iOS 13 with a plethora of changes and improvements on the latest Apple iPhone devices including the popular Dark Mode and several other privacy features. It comes with fixes to enhance the user's overall experience. However, a new report claims that the update has some of its drawbacks.

One of the drawbacks of Apple iOS 13 is that it cuts the charging speed. ChargerLab reported that when the iPhone 11 was updated to iOS 13.1, its wireless charging speed dropped t0 70 percent. The iPhone 11 reaches 7.5 W when it runs on iOS 13.0 and only 5W when updated to iOS 13.1. The drop in power contributed to the increased charging time.
