Liverpool could end up replaying their game against MK Dons after Pedro Chirivella was fielded due to ineligibility. If this happens, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would be "horrified" and "devastated," a report from The Times claims.

The Reds' schedule is packed for the next few weeks, and Klopp doesn't want any more matches for the club. It is understood that the gaffer would contest the decision if a request for rematch against MK Dons comes up.

Liverpool had been drawn at home to Arsenal in the next round, and while the prospect of being chucked out of the competition would "devastate" Klopp, a replay would "go down like a bag of cold sick." Liverpool could be fined, but it's also possible they could be thrown out of the Carabao Cup completely.

However, Liverpool said they already applied to the Football Association that Chirivella be cleared and that was in July. The club also pointed out that they chased it up several times and believes they have done all they can for Chirivella to be cleared.

Liverpool's current situation can be compared to West Ham in 1999 when they were asked to face Aston Villa again after Emmanuel Omoyinmi was fielded. Unlike West Ham, however, Sunderland in 2014 completely got away from having to do a rematch, and they were simply fined and of course, told off.

If Liverpool ends up getting fined, they will be seen at Anfield fighting Arsenal in round four of the Carabao Cup in October.

As for Klopp, the gaffer believes that Steve Gerrard would make a good replacement if were to live the Reds in the future. In an interview with FourFourTwo, the manager said that the Rangers boss is his number one choice.

Gerrard provided his own response to what Klopp had to say, making it clear he and a lot of Liverpool fans want the German to be in charge at Anfield for many years:

Klopp is clearly staying for quite a long while in Liverpool, with the Merseyside potentially earning major honors in the next campaigns.
