The Honest Company sells safe and eco-friendly consumer goods and household products. The company markets its products as being made without any health-compromising chemicals or compounds adhering to its mantra of ethical consumerism.

In its IPO prospectus, The Honest Company said its success is directly tied with its ongoing affiliation with Alba. The company said without Alba, who is free to leave at any time with written notice, The Honest Company would not be able to have successfully market its brand.

"She has an innate and invaluable ability to resonate and engage with the consumer, driving trends across demographics and generations. We depend on Ms. Alba's social media reach and influence to connect with consumers and provide insight on current trends," the company said.

The company touted Alba's strong social media following in its prospectus, citing her more than 39 million social media followers worldwide. The company said it plans to capitalize on Alba's global reach with a planned expansion outside the U.S.

"We plan to accelerate our growth outside the United States by leveraging the Honest brand and global reach of Jessica Alba. We plan to prioritize markets where consumer trends towards clean, ingredient-led products in our categories are accelerating," the company said.
