South Korean tech giant Samsung will soon unveil its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S10, which will come in three different models that will be packed with an Infinity-O screen display. What's more exciting about this is that Qualcomm, the leader in modem chipsets, will support the 5G handsets in 2019, and that is expected to power the Galaxy S10 portfolio.
As per Tom's Guide, Qualcomm announced on December 4, during its Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui, Hawaii that its upcoming mobile processing platform Snapdragon 855, will support all 5G handsets that are expected to be launched in the market in 2019. Thus, the Galaxy S10 range will most likely be packed with the new chipset.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 comes with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which promises quick and accurate unlocking. It will also support multi-gigabit 5G that offers incredible speeds although 5G will only become the standard speed in late 2019 or at least in early 2020.
Another smart performance that the Snapdragon 855 will offer to Galaxy S10 is its 4th-gen multi-core AI engine, which is 3x more powerful than the Snapdragon 845. Gamers will also be able to enjoy this chipset as it offers advanced gaming features to high-end smartphones.
Further, Qualcomm senior vice president and general manager for mobile Alex Katouzian also said that the new chipset will be the world's first to allow computational photography and video capture features. As for the Galaxy S10 range, one of its models will be packed with 5 cameras - two front-facing lenses and three on the rear, which should go perfectly well with the Snapdragon 855 chipset.
Samsung senior vice president Justin Denison said during the Snapdragon Tech Summit that a Snapdragon 855-powered Samsung handset will be out in the market in the first half of 2019. As reported earlier, the tech giant partners with Verizon in the United States for a 5G smartphone, which will be packed with the new chipset that includes the X50 modem that was manufactured on the 10nm processor.
Denison went on to say that with the 5G network support, users would be able to enjoy the "crystal-clear video" and "flawless" audio. Nonetheless, it is still uncertain whether or not the Samsung 5G-support handset will be the Galaxy S10 as the company's mobile head DJ Koh already said that the flagship phone will not be the first of the tech giant's 5G device.
There could be another major project that Samsung has in the pipeline that is not yet disclosed to the public, but consumers should now expect a more advanced technology as soon as the 5G network speed becomes widespread next year.
