Huawei has been on the news lately following Google's decision regarding the use of its Android mobile operating system. Recently, the Chinese tech giant is once again on the front page following a leak, this time surrounding its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. A leak inauspiciously revealed the much-touted camera configuration of the flagship smartphone.
The latter half of the year is usually an excellent time for smartphone manufacturers to release their much-awaited flagship smartphones. Huawei knows this and has been secretly building its own flagship entirely under the radar. However, despite the company's secrecy, rare leaks usually slip through and gave the tech community of what to expect.
Most recently, a leaked rendered believed to be that of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro circulated on a number of online platforms and forums. The leaked render reveals an exciting feature of the alleged flagship smartphone, its camera configuration.
The leak revealed that the Mate 30 Pro would feature a circular camera array located on its rear. A close checkup of the configuration reveals that one of the cameras features a "5x optical zoom" lens. This is a huge upgrade compared to the current flagship, the Mate 20 Pro, which only features a 3x zoom setup. One of the cameras also features a telephoto lens. The exact configuration of the cameras is yet to be revealed, although there are rumors pointing to a possible 40-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel wide-angle camera. The exact specs will be revealed once Huawei confirms or unveils this so-called "Galaxy-killer."
Aside from the exciting camera configuration, the leaked render also confirmed that the upcoming smartphone would be available in the green color variant. As with all leaks, this recent one should be taken with a grain of salt. While leaks are common in the tech industry, especially in the smartphone market, some highly credible leaks sometimes do not end up in the final build.
Huawei is expected to officially reveal the Mate 30 Pro series sometime in October, with a potential release targeted for the holiday season. With Samsung and Apple also slated to release their own flagship models later this year, the smartphone market will be a jungle full of different hardware.
The Mate 30 Pro is widely expected to target the high-end smartphone market. This means that it will go head-to-head against one of the most formidable brands in that niche, the Samsung Galaxy series. Nevertheless, the Mate 30 Pro has been dubbed already as the "Galaxy Killer," whether this will hold merit is still to be determined once the two smartphones are officially released on the market.
