There's a new trailer for Pokémon Sword and Shield that reveals some important information about the upcoming game, including new Pokémon and a brand-new mechanic: Gigantamaxing.

In the trailer, Yamper, the electric-type Corgi Pokémon, was properly revealed, along with Duraludon, a steel- and dragon-type monster; and Rolycoly, a new rock-type. A 'mon called Alcremie also made an appearance, which happens to be a whipped-cream fairy-type that turns itself into a gigantic cake when Gigantamaxed. Note that Gigantamaxing is different from Dynamaxing.

As you might have guessed Gigantamaxing makes the Pokémon large and changes what it looks like. However, it also gives them a G-Max Move, which is specific to each Gigantamax Pokémon.

Drednaw Gigantamaxes into a turtle with a much bigger shell, Corviknight Gigantamaxes into a bigger bird with some red accents, and Alcremie Gigantamaxes into a large cake. According to the game's official website, you can catch Gigantamax Pokémon by participating in Max Raid Battles, but they'll be hard to find.

Chairman Rose, the man in charge of the Galar region Pokémon League was also shown, along with the vice president, a woman named Oleana. We'll have to wait and see how they play in to the story.

Looking more into the trailer, it appears Tyranitar and Mimikyu have been included in the Galar-region Pokédex. This is good news to fans of these two. The game's website also confirms that Larvitar and Goomy's evolution lines will be exclusive to Shield, and Deino and Jangmo-o's evolution lines will only be in Sword.

If you've ever complained that the differences between Pokémon game editions were too small, relief might be in sight. When Pokémon Sword and Shield arrive in November, they'll include not just differences in the creature lineup and trainers, but version-exclusive gyms in "certain towns" with unique gym leaders.

Fighting-type specialist Bea will be featured in Pokémon Sword, while Pokémon Shield will have the Ghost-type Gym Leader Allister. Just like the previous games, there will be different Pokémon for each game - as Larvitar is exclusive to Pokemon Shield and Jangmo-o is exclusive to Pokemon Sword.

To those who will buy the Pokémon Sword and Shield Double Pack, special codes are in store for you. These will unlock Dynamax Crystals for Jangmo-o and Larvitar. Dynamax Crystals can be used to activate Max Raid Battles that will allow players to battle Jangmo-o and Larvitar, regardless of what they're playing.

Pokémon Sword and Shield is scheduled for a release on the Nintendo Switch on November 15.
