Manchester United aims to put Jadon Sancho as their top transfer target in January. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to shell out £100 million in their bid for Champions League football, and the Borussia Dortmund winger is considered a top priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Following the £75 million move of Romelu Lukaku, and with Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez being linked to other clubs, Solskjaer is to be given the funds needed to secure the lineup. The cash from the Lukaku deal is reportedly being planned to spend on new players and with a creative midfielder top of his wish list, the manager only has one place to look at. 19-year-old Sancho started the season impressively with two goals and two assists across three matches. That included the Dortmund's win over Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup.
Earlier this week, new reports emerged claiming that Sancho's contract with Dortmund has been renewed and his wages increased. The young player will be paid £190,000 per week following the interest given to him by United. He is now one of the highest earning footballers under 21.
Sancho's new contract with Borussia Dortmund will reportedly secure the player long-term, understandably, to prevent any unexpected transfers.
The 19-year-old forward shot to prominence for the German club last season having left Man City in 2017 in favor of first-team football. He has since been considered as one of the top performers for his club and his country after his 2018 debut in England.
Sancho quickly broke into the first team and became one of the Bundesliga's star players, earning a call-up to the England squad and transfer interest from all of the Premier League's top clubs, including former employers City.
According to DailyMail, Sancho has no problems with the contract and has agreed with the terms of the deal, which should give him approximately £10 million a year. It only goes to show that Dortmund is bent to tie him down after much interest has been centered on him by European clubs.
As for United, the English club hopes to attract him into joining the Premier League, with Solskjaer reportedly desperate to secure the player. Man Utd will do anything to prevent the massive plunge in revenue that will likely happen if they don't make it to Champions League next year.
"The money is certainly there and Ole knows that," a club source has claimed. "Everyone knows January is always a difficult market but if it's the difference between keeping United in the top-four mix, the owners won't hesitate to back the manager."
