A few days ago, Biostar indirectly tipped the imminent release of a couple of new AMD Ryzen processors. These are the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 and the AMD Ryzen 9 3900. Both chips come with updates to their CPU support list document. Interestingly, the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12 core CPU goes official now.

The AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12 core CPU is one of the several Ryzen pro 3000 series processors designed for the business segment. The pro processors are usually out of the scope, considering that it does not make sense to build a gaming PC out of them. The CPU support list of Biostar referenced both the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12-Core CPU and the AMD Ryzen 9 3900 12-Core CPU before the Pro was even announced.

According to Biostar, both the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12-Core CPU and the AMD Ryzen 9 3900 12-Core CPU have a 65W thermal design power or TDP rating. The site also shared that the Pro model has a base clock speed of 3.1 GHz. On its latest announcement, AMD confirmed that the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 CPU is a 12-core or 24-thread processor with 4.3 GHz boost clock and 3.1 GHz base clock.

The AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12-Core CPU has 70 MB total cache and 65W TDP. Biostar got it right, so it is safe to assume that the earlier leak from the site about the base model is also accurate. The current AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is one of the best processors designed for gaming.

It is also a 12-core 24-thread processor with 70MB of total cache, 3.8 GHz of the base clock, 4.6 GHz of boost clock, higher TDP which is 105W and priced at $499. Since this is designed for business, most CPUs lack integrated graphics. However, AMD has an answer for that. The AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12-Core CPU comes with Ryzen Pro APUs with Vega graphics.

The AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12-Core CPU is a slower clocked model to compensate for the lower TDP. It also comes with simultaneous multithreading support. AMD also introduces the AMD Athlon Pro 300E, which is designed for budget corporate boxes. While it is retailed at a fairly low price, AMD claims that the CPU provides security features Intel usually leaves off the table on its budget products.

The AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900 12-Core CPU offers a lower power and cheaper version of the AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 3900X and is headed to desktops soon. If it overclocks well, it could also be an enticing alternative for a gaming build.
